Japanese Fashion Designer Yukiko Hanai Dies at 84

Famous Japanese fashion designer Yukiko Hanai passed away on October 31 in Tokyo due to old age, according to Jiji Press. 1. She was 84.

Hanai’s funeral was attended by her close family members. A farewell celebration is slated to start at noon on February 14 at the Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel in Shibuya, Tokyo. 15 next year.

Hanai, who was born in Yokohama, a city south of Tokyo, studied fashion design at the Setsu Mode Seminar, an institution founded by the late Japanese fashion illustrator Setsu Nagasawa. In 1964, she opened her own design studio.

She gained popularity with her brands such as “Madame Hanai” and “Yukiko Hanai.” She also created the uniforms worn by banks, department stores, and airline employees.
