Project Tracks Wool from Sheep to Fabric
To successfully trace Australian wool from sheep to finished fabric, Italian wool mill Vitale Barberis Canonico (VBC) and Australia’s The Woolmark Company (TWC) have joined forces with Swiss traceability solutions provider Haelixa.
The initiative was started in line with TWC’s strategy for traceability to uphold the credibility of the sustainability of Australian wool, which is funded by the country’s woolgrowers.
Haelixa used its DNA tracing solution to mark wool fibers in December 2021. This required applying one DNA marker to greasy wool and another to scoured wool.
